Lymphedema Treatment Act
Medicare and many other health insurance plans don’t cover compression treatment supplies. The Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) is legislation introduced to Congress with the intent to improve awareness and education about lymphedema among lawmakers and insurance providers. It supports to improve insurance coverage at both the state and federal levels and encourages all members of the lymphedema community to become active participants in the process.
The LTA will improve coverage for the treatment of lymphedema from any cause by amending Medicare statute to allow for coverage of compression supplies. Although this legislation relates specifically to a change in Medicare law, it would set a precedent for Medicaid and private insurers to follow. If passed, it will improve insurance coverage for the medically necessary, doctor-prescribed compression supplies that are the foundation of lymphedema treatment. Learn more here.
